How much does a website cost in India? A simple guide for small businesses

By Sai Durga Prasad Velagaleti · 22 October 2026 · 6 min read

"How much will my website cost?" is the first question almost every business owner asks, and the honest answer is: it depends on what the website needs to do. A one-page site for a tuition centre and an online store with 500 products are very different jobs.

This guide explains what you are actually paying for, so you can compare quotes properly and avoid surprises later.

The three things that decide the price

1. How many pages, and how custom the design is

A simple site has 3 to 5 pages: Home, About, Services, Gallery and Contact. A bigger business site might have 8 to 15 pages, a blog, and separate pages for each service or location. More pages means more design, more writing and more testing.

A design made from scratch for your brand costs more than a ready-made template, but it looks more professional and is usually faster.

2. What the website has to do

Features add the most to the price:

  • Online payments (UPI, cards) and a shopping cart
  • Bookings or appointments with a calendar
  • Customer logins, dashboards or member areas
  • Content management, so you can edit text and photos yourself
  • Several languages, for example English and Telugu, or English and Arabic

A brochure-style website with a WhatsApp button and a contact form is the simplest and most affordable option. Every extra feature adds work.

3. Who writes the content and takes the photos

If you already have good photos and text, the project is quicker. If the developer needs to write your content, the price goes up a little, but it is often worth it: clear words sell better than a pretty design.

Typical price ranges

These are the fixed prices on our own pricing page, so you can see what each level includes:

  • Starter, ₹4,999: up to 3 pages, mobile-friendly, WhatsApp button and contact form, basic SEO and Google Analytics. Ready in 5 to 7 days.
  • Business, ₹11,999: up to 8 pages with a custom design, Google Business Profile set up, a blog section and stronger SEO. Ready in 10 to 14 days.
  • Custom, from ₹24,999: online stores, booking systems, member areas, integrations and anything built from scratch.

Prices across the market vary a lot. You will find ₹2,000 template sites and ₹2 lakh agency projects. A very low price usually means a template with no SEO and no support. A very high price should come with a clear reason: strategy, custom features or ongoing marketing.

The yearly costs nobody mentions

The build is a one-time cost, but a website also has small yearly costs. Ask about them before you start:

  • Domain name (your website address, like yourbusiness.in): usually ₹500 to ₹1,500 a year.
  • Hosting (where the website lives): from free to a few thousand rupees a year, depending on the website.
  • Business email (you@yourbusiness.in): optional, free with some setups.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups and small changes, either paid monthly or as needed.

Make sure the domain is registered in your name. If a developer registers it in theirs, you don't fully own your website address.

Questions to ask before you pay anyone

  1. Will the website work well on mobile phones?
  2. Is the price fixed and written down?
  3. Who owns the domain, the design and the code after launch?
  4. Is basic SEO included (titles, descriptions, sitemap, Google Search Console)?
  5. How many rounds of changes are included?
  6. What support do I get after launch, and for how long?
  7. Can I see a sample or a demo before I pay?
